vod_date: June 10, 2011 Fight of the Century: Keynes vs. Hayek Round Two Video Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTQnarzmTOc From EconStories' YouTube "Fight of the Century" is the new economics hip-hop music video by John Papola and Russ Roberts at http://EconStories.tv. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, the Great Recession ended almost two years ago, in the summer of 2009. Yet we're all uneasy. Job growth has been disappointing. The recovery seems fragile. Where should we head from here? Is that question even meaningful? Can the government steer the economy or have past attempts helped create the mess we're still in? In "Fight of the Century", Keynes and Hayek weigh in on these central questions. Do we need more government spending or less? What's the evidence that government spending promotes prosperity in troubled times? Can war or natural disasters paradoxically be good for an economy in a slump? Should more spending come from the top down or from the bottom up? What are the ultimate sources of prosperity? Keynes and Hayek never agreed on the answers to these questions and they still don't. Let's listen to the greats. See Keynes and Hayek throwing down in "Fight of the Century"! May 30, 2011 Video Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vACe1OrpMzE Silent dancing at the Jefferson Memorial is forbidden. Assembly is not allowed and video is off limits. That's the Freedom of Speech, Assembly and Press the state thinks they have the right to use violence against. From Adam Vs. The Man "On May 28, 2011 Television host Adam Kokesh and several other activists participating in a flash-mob were arrested at the publicly-funded Thomas Jefferson Memorial. Their crime? Silently dancing, in celebration of the first amendment's champion; a clear violation of their right to free-expression. In an excessive use of force, video was captured of Adam being body slammed and placed in a choke for his non-crime." The original video uploaded was of the same event, but it was two videos from the same event back-to-back--not edited in sequence. I merely layered them and edited the scenes together from the two angles to give a more fluid understanding of what happened that day. |

vod_date: April 16, 2011 Video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzPGHh8jjcE From HelmerReenberg's YouTube channel The Bay of Pigs Invasion (known as La Batalla de Girón in Cuba), was an unsuccessful attempt by a U.S.-trained force of Cuban exiles to invade southern Cuba with support from U.S. government armed forces to overthrow the Cuban government of Fidel Castro. Professor and the first post-revolution Prime Minister José Miró Cardona was chosen to lead the planned provisional government.[4] The plan was launched in April 1961, less than three months after John F. Kennedy assumed the presidency in the United States. The Cuban armed forces, trained and equipped by Eastern Bloc nations, defeated the exile combatants in three days. The bad Cuban-American relations were exacerbated the following year by the Cuban Missile Crisis. The invasion is named after the Bay of Pigs, which is possibly inaccurately translated from the Spanish Bahía de Cochinos. The main landing at the Bay of Pigs specifically took place at the beach called Playa Girón. |
